Mid Autumn Festival Gift Tea

The Mid Autumn Festival Gift Tea, designed by Li Jiuzhou, is a unique packaging design that celebrates the traditional Chinese Mid Autumn Festival. Inspired by the symbolism of the moon in Chinese culture, Li Jiuzhou has created a design that embodies the spirit of reunion and hope.

The design features a beautiful combination of International Klein Blue and gold, representing the moon and its significance in Chinese culture. The tea box itself is circular, symbolizing reunion, and is adorned with a pale golden moon pattern and blessing words, creating a sense of perfection and harmony.

Inside the tea box, there are eight metal cans, each representing one of the eight shapes of the moon. These cans contain different varieties of tea, offering a delightful and meaningful experience for the recipient. The central can represents the full moon, symbolizing hope and reunion.

The Mid Autumn Festival Gift Tea is not only a visually stunning design but also a thoughtful representation of Chinese culture. By incorporating traditional elements into a modern aesthetic, Li Jiuzhou has created a design that appeals to both domestic and international audiences.

The realization of this design involved the use of International Klein Blue and gold, as well as the creation of eight metal cans to represent the different moon shapes. The technical specifications of the design are as follows: Width 300mm x Depth 300mm x Height 50mm.

This project was undertaken in Beijing, starting in January 2021 and concluding in August 2021. The design team faced the challenge of balancing modern international aesthetics with the preservation of ancient Chinese traditional elements. The result is a design that successfully bridges the gap between tradition and modernity.

The Mid Autumn Festival Gift Tea has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges the design's creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life.
